Short Summary…..

Here is a short summary. I started out clueless. I tried many things, read many books, followed many marketing gurus yet nothing seems to work. I did more research and kept on tweaking my business.

After a series of testing, I finally figured out what really works. I soon became profitable and went on to make a decent income with these skills. Now I am sharing my skills, knowledge and experience with you.

Humble Background…..

I am a self taught musician, I play the electric guitar and harmonica (blues harp). I took on part-time jobs while in school just to fund my hobby because high quality electric guitars, amplifiers and other equipment are not cheap.

Rather than buying everything at retail price, I bought and sold musical instruments on free online classified ads and forums. That was my first unofficial experience with advertising, selling and some negotiation.

I was really playful in school and I completed my engineering diploma with Cs and Ds, not a single A or B. I did not continue to pursue my degree because I did not want to be an industrial engineer. I chose to be in sales instead.

Direct Marketing Discovery…..

It all started when, I was in various sales positions. I was told to do cold calls, I was always knocking on doors, always getting rejected till one day, I stumbled upon this thing known as direct response marketing.

At that point of time, it was like the most fascinating thing that I ever heard….. Imagine getting ONLY interested prospects to contact you and you only having to speak to people who are interested.

Sounds like a great idea?

I tried a few times, it all failed, I also pissed off a few of my employers while doing that. Not long later I had a employer who was open to such ideas, we worked on some simple direct marketing strategies and started to work. Then we tweaked our ads, improved our sales process and things started to get better.

Simply by using basic direct marketing principles, we managed to increase the number of sales while spending the same amount on advertising! On top of that selling became so much easier for me! That was my very first success at learning how to sell stuff without cold-calling and door-knocking.

Internet Marketing Discovery…..

Later on I discovered that direct marketing online can be as powerful as marketing offline. In fact, many times online marketing can be even better than offline. Testing and tweaking various forms of sales messages such as ads, sales letters, emails was so much easier, faster and cheaper than offline marketing.

With that said, I started my first web site part-time while I still had a sales job in the day. Having some sales background and offline marketing experience did help me with writing sales materials however, it was not a bed of roses…..

There seem to be so much to learn and so little time to test. There were endless number of tasks to do! On top of that there was just way too much information to digest! Just figuring out the right sequence of what to do first and what to do next was almost frightening!

Focus, Focus, Focus…..

I spent many nights trying to figure the various processes of this internet marketing business. Even after spending so much time and money on instructional ebooks, audios, DVDs, I was still at a lost…..

Then one day, I realized that I was suffering from a severe case of….. INFORMATION OVERLOAD! I started to filter out the information I was absorbing. I started to narrow the focus of my internet business instead of using the latest marketing trick of the week or following the most interesting marketing guru of the month…..

I simply took small parts of the tactics that I know and kept testing them. Those tactics that worked for me I kept doing them, those that did not work, I would make a few attempts to improve them or I would cut down my time spent on them. Soon I got good at some key skills such as:

In a nutshell, through endless testing and tweaking, I managed to put together my own unique internet marketing success system in the most organized sequence. Yes, I am an extremely, detailed, neat and well-organized person by nature.

Finally, I was able to create a simple yet systematic web marketing system that works really well. On top of being super-detailed, I can see the big picture and I can come up with strategies that most people can never think of…..

I always follow the 8020 principle because it helps me achieve more with less time and less effort. In short, start to identify and focus on things that really matter then simplify your business instead of following everything the gurus say.

I used my past sales experience and I wrote sales material in a personal tone without hype or hard selling. I also wrote ads like what I did when I was selling used musical instruments on free online classified ads and forums.

Finally…..

Things started to get better for me. With these skills that I acquired over time, I now make a decent income online. However, you do not have to envy me, after all I am just an ordinary guy who happen to know how to make a decent living with web marketing.

I am always improving my overall business system and sales funnel, I am also scaling up my current business. At the same time, I am sharing my experience with you right on this website.
