Using Pen Names…..”

A great way to bond with your target audience is none other than to create a character with a persona just like them. This way of bonding will make it so much easier for them to relate to you and this will also make it a lot easier for them to trust you. As you know, trust might be the very best conversion booster of all…..

When it comes to marketing online, you can enter any market place you want and you can be anybody you want. You need to create a character with a pen name because every business needs a face. When there is a character with a face, your business is more personal unlike those cold corporate websites.

If your target audience is made up of mainly women with babies and you happen to be a man with a super thick white beard, you really need to use a pen name. On the other hand if your audience is made up of mainly younger men under 30 and you are a woman with white hair, you also need a pen name.

Select Your Pen Name

When selecting pen names, use common names that people can remember. Google the pen name which you are about to use to ensure there is no bad press. It would be terrible if your pen name is a name of a wanted serial killer or somebody like that.

To make your pen name appear more like a real person, go buy a photo from some stock photo site. Modify the face a little to make it more unique. When choosing photos, make sure it is not too good looking like some glamorous fashion model, also not too ugly like some sort of frankenstein.

Protect Your Pen Name

When you sell your own products with PayPal or ClickBank, your account name or payee name which is your real name would be shown when someone makes a purchase. Use your company name instead of your real name. This will make it harder for your competitors to spy on your best markets.

If you use Ezine Articles, create separate accounts for each pen name. When you sell your business, you can sell your character, your pen name and almost everything that comes with it including the your Ezine Articles account. Who knows you might be able to sell it a higher price because you did this.

Do consider buying the domain name of your pen name if it is available then use it to redirect to the site associated with that name. It is also a good idea to have only 1 market associated with 1 character rather than having a character who is into way too many unrelated markets.

Character Disclaimer

I am NOT telling you to misrepresent yourself or tell lies! Do not create a pen name of some doctor or professor when you do not have the real credentials. Many book authors have pen names, if they can do that, so can you and I.

I am an athlete who is caught between time to devote to work and time for my career, so I am turning to internet marketing in search of an automated income. After seeing so many programs and software, what is a REAL, no B.S way to make an automated income?

Samuel’s answer:

First of all, there is no such thing as a 100% automated income. You need to set up a really solid sales funnel so that you can have a close to automated system that gives you income.

A no B.S way to make a nice income online? Different people will give you different answers, I would say….. using ppc and targeted landing pages for either affiliate offers or your own product.

Since you are an athlete, you could create an authority site about your sport. Maybe you can share some exercise tips, sports equipment tips, then write reviews of sports-related books, courses or equipment then promote them as an affiliate.

You can even write a book (or ebook) about your expertise. If you got no time to write a book, just write some notes and hand them over to a ghostwriter, it will not cost much anyway.

Craig’s question:

If your URL is the exact keyword you are targeting, will it improve your Google relevance score? If so, would it be advantageous to have 10 URLs for the top 10 kewords?

Samuel’s answer:

To some extent, yes. The best benefit is when the keyword you are bidding on is in your URL, it gets bolded and draws more attention, that is 1 of the reasons why you will get higher CTR.

When someone types in a keyword and he sees the same keyword within the ad or url, they immediately think that they found what they are looking for.

If you can buy the domains cheaply, why not? Even if you have to spend more money on each domain, if that keyword is already making you profits, getting a domain, will get you higher CTR and in the end, you will still profit more.

DNS And Cpanel…..”

As simple or as easy as it seems, go ahead and have a look, it will save you a lot of time. The following links will lead you to different parts of this page. If you are new to domain names and cpanel, or you forgot what to do, this is for you…..

DNS (NameCheap)

Login to your NameCheap account, click Manage Domains (on the top bar) then click on the domain which you want to update, this is what you would see.

Click on Domain Name Server Setup, this is what you would see.

Enter your DNS information and save it. If you are unsure of your DNS, contact your web hosting support.

DNS (GoDaddy)

Login to your GoDaddy account, click Domain Manager (on the left side bar) then click on the domain which you want to update, this is what you would see.

Click on Nameservers, this is what you would see.

Enter your DNS information and save it. If you are unsure of your DNS, contact your web hosting support.

Cpanel

From this point onwards, you would need to login to your cpanel. If you are unsure of your cpanel details, contact your web hosting support.

Addon Domains

Click on Addon Domains.

Enter your domain name and password then click Add Domain!.

Sub-Domains

Click on Subdomains.

Enter your sub-domain, select your domain and click Create.

File Manager

Click on File Manager.

Click on public_html.

You would see folders that look like this.

Select your folder and click on Upload.

MySQL Database

Click on MySQL Databases.

Enter the name of your new database and click Create Database.

Enter the name and password of your new user and click Create User.

Add user to database and click Add. Give your database and user the same name so that you will not get confused later on.

Select ALL PRIVILEGES and click Make Changes.

Before adding the user, you should see this.

Email

This idea will not only allow you to manage multiple email addresses from a single GMail account, your emails will not take up any space on your server.

Click on Forwarders.

Click on Add Forwarder.

Add your new email (Address to Forward) and enter the GMail address (Forward to email address) which your new email to forward to.

Click on Forwarder.

GMail

Now you can add your new email into GMail. Login to your GMail account, click Settings, then click Accounts.

Click Add another email address.

Enter your name and email then click Next Step.

Click on Send Verification.

Click on Settings, then click Filter.

Click on Create a new filter.

Enter your new email (To:).

Skip the Inbox and Apply the label. Enter a label (folder) of your choice.

How many times have you joined an email list only to unsubscribe a week later? This happens when your expectations were not met, you expected high quality content yet you ended up with endless amount of sales pitch asking you to buy a bunch of crap. I will tell you straight up…..

What Can You Expect Here

In every market that you enter, you should always start with ppc. (I do that all the time.) The reason why you do that is because you need to get enough traffic in the shortest possible time to test if your idea will sell.

Remember: no traffic = no sales = no money

PPC And Affiliate Marketing

By looking at this domain name, you can expect lots of ppc tips. Tips would also include….. entering markets, picking affiliate offers, researching keywords, setting up campaigns, ad writing, landing pages, email copy and more.

Social Media And Direct Marketing

Sometimes I do cover SEO, blogging and social media. As much as I am a hardcore direct marketing nut, there is no way we can ignore social media. The key here is to use SEO, blogging and social media as a tool for direct marketing.

You can always expect to hear about selling, selling and more selling. After all, if you do not sell anything, you do not get paid, right? Even if you are doing CPA offers, getting someone to take an action is considered selling as well.

ClickBank And Niche Marketing

There are no end of opportunities with ClickBank for both affiliates and product owners, therefore, you will always hear me talking about ClickBank.

There was a point of time I avoided ClickBank because I hate waiting for checks to be cleared. I live in Singapore and it takes about 2 weeks for the check to arrive and another 4 – 6 weeks for them be cleared. Not that I am impatient but it was bad for cash flow since I pay for most of my traffic.

Since ClickBank started to pay through direct deposit, I focused my attention back on it again. In fact, I even moved 1 of my niche membership site to ClickBank. It is not the perfect affiliate network, however, learning to work with it has paid off very well.

Conversions And Tracking

List building is really important, at least for most information-based niches. Conversion rates must be tracked properly so that you can know if you are profitable. Be prepared to discover some elements that can really improve your conversion rates. Your cost per lead and cost per sale can be cut down as well.

Product Reviews

Most of my affiliate presell sites are usually a bunch of comprehensive product reviews. They convert really well for me and over time, I have grown to enjoy writing product reviews. Unlike most people who review products just for a commission, I do it to educate and inform you so you can make a better decision.

My reviews are usually more unbiased and accurate because….. I read the ebook, watch the video or use the software before reading the salesletter so that I will not be distracted by the sizzle of the sales message.

Product Types

First of all, I will NEVER promote anything that I personally do not believe in! No unethical products, no spamming products, no network marketing related stuff.

You will never see me promote stuff like those ready-made sites or content where all everyone gets the same thing. Imagine many people having the exact same site or content, where is the USP? (Unique Selling Preposition)

Many times, you will see people trying to sell you stuff like those business-in-a-box….. none of it works. What you need is to develop your own USP even if you are an affiliate.

Think about what makes you unique compared to your competitors and turn that into an advantage or a benefit that people can see. Once you do that, not only more people will want to buy from you, your competitors will have a hard time trying to knock you off.

Personally, I like the finer things in life and I always find myself leaning towards more refined things rather than just anything thrown together just to make a quick buck. Do you also feel the same way?

I definitely appreciate well-researched and well-produced products or services where we as the customers really experience that spirit of excellence. Every time I see such a product, I will recommend it.

Opinions And Decisions

I am blessed that I always get a review copy of new products before they are officially launched, sometimes months in advance. Remember that reviews are merely my personal opinion, the decision to buy or not to buy is ultimately yours.

Many times, I get to test the methods in new ebooks so that I know how well they work. At times, when I highly recommend a particular product, I would sweeten the pot by offering my own bonus. They are usually short and straight to the point reports which you cannot find anywhere else.

Even when you choose not to buy what I recommend, the reviews will be written in such a way that when you read it, you can at least take away some good ideas which you can implement in your business.

Big Lies About Internet Marketing

In reality, people in this industry NEVER really lie to you….. What they like to do is to tell you white lies, hype things up and cover some facts which you need to know. A good example would be trying to show you their income proof.

Income Loophole #1:
Many people show you BIG income screen shots but hardly would anyone ever show you how much they spent on getting traffic both directly (paid traffic) and indirectly (free lancers). What you are seeing is revenue not profits.

Income Loophole #2:
Usually you never get to see a full year of income, most people would rather hide under their best month. What you get to see is usually their best month or months, not their usual day to day income.

Income Loophole #3:
When someone is selling you a system, for example they would say that they used this particular traffic system to earn a certain amount of money. However, they used other sources of traffic to ramp up their income so that they have more to show you.

Are You Stupid?

Very likely….. you are not, that is the reason why you are reading this! With all these hype from people selling internet marketing stuff, (both merchants and affiliates), do you know what exactly are they doing to you?

They think you are stupid enough to buy their crap! Why did I say that? If they think you are smart, why would they offer crap together with lots of hype? Think about it.

If you ever find people trying to lower your intellect by selling you crap using hyped-up and irritating sales techniques, simply unsubscribe from their emails. You should also unsubscribe from their rss feeds and stop reading their blogs.

This alone will free up a lot of your time. If you can, stop following them on twitter and remove them from FaceBook and MySpace!

Internet Marketing Is Crap?

The main reason why crappy internet marketing products are seen all over the place is because these products are by nature information products. Most people who buy them do not use it so they never find out that whatever they bought is nothing but hot air that does not work.

The minority of the people who find out, are those who did some testing. After that they ask for a refund. Few people find out, few people refund, therefore more and more people continue to sell more and more crap. I have no idea how these people can sleep at night.

As people start to wise up, more and more people can tell a crappy product when they see it. Therefore, selling crap is a short term transaction, not a long term business. I want to be in business for the long term, what about you?

Internet Marketers Are Crappy?

The truth is, most internet marketers are too busy promoting and pimping other products for an affiliate commission that they usually have no time to check out the product before promoting. So they do not know when they are promoting crappy stuff.

Even when they do have the time, the last thing they want to do is to test the product and do a proper review. After all, all they want is make a commission from you, would they care about your well-being? Very likely, NO!

I have spoken to a few internet marketers and what I heard was a bit of a shock to me! Some of them actually took the time to evaluate a product and found that it was not as good as what the sales letter says.

Yet, they still choose to promote it because they are afraid that others will not want to promote their products when they do not promote for them in the first place. From here, you can see how crap is being promoted again and again.

What Happened To Integrity?

Some people say honest is the best policy, I say honesty is the ONLY policy! That is the way business should be done!

One common reason why these so-called marketers have no choice but to keep promoting crap is because….. they have almost no other ways to get traffic! Chances are, the only thing they do is to sell internet marketing crap to newbies or people who do not know better!

These are the people who are the butt kissers of the marketing gurus! In fact, they will kiss any butt as long as there is a commission to be made….. unfortunately the commission is made at your expense!

Copycats Who Copy Other Copycats

Just think about it, if all they do is copy the other copycats and all they do is sell internet marketing products, this might mean they have almost zero success in other niches!

It is no different from a swimming instructor who cannot swim! Would you pay a swimming instructor to teach you how to swim when you know that he cannot swim? No, right?

Now….. would you want to learn from internet marketers who have no success in other markets? What good have they got to offer? Think about it…..

Internet Marketing Launches Never Ends

These product launches are never going to end, in fact, you will see more and more in the days to come! I have mixed feelings about these launches because some of them really give so much relevant and valuable content that you cannot help but buy.

On the other hand, some are nothing but a long series of hype which really irritates the heck out of me! I would unsubscribe from their emails and turn off the noise. You can do the same too!

Even if you have no intentions to buy, just take note of those launches where they give lots of valuable content, join their list and get as much value as you want.

In fact, you will notice that a small number of smart affiliates will try to outdo the merchants by giving more value and bonuses when people buy through their links. (I am one of them…..)

Nothing Wrong With Joint Promotions

Joint venture traffic is a great source of traffic and therefore, I am not knocking it. However, if joint venture traffic is the only source of traffic, what kind of a business is that?

Do you want to 100% depend on others for traffic? Do you want your business to be all about begging for traffic and having no choice but to return others a favor by promoting for them? Even when they offer crap?

If you have your own product, can you spend some money to buy some ppc traffic? Why not test and tweak your sales conversions and make it work well before ask others to promote for you? That is what I do and you should do the same too!

When you have some numbers of your own to show, people are more willing to promote for you. When people see the effort you took to improve your sales conversions, do you think that they are more willing to promote your stuff?

Internet Marketing Reviews

Since you are already here, I might as well be up front and tell you that I do promote products and services as an affiliate. However, I am very selective with what I choose to promote. If I do not have the time to carefully evaluate the product, I will not promote.

When you read my reviews, you can have a clearer understanding of what you can expect so that you can make a more informed decision of what to buy and what to avoid.

However, whatever I say is just my opinion! Do take a look and form your own opinion. You do not have to agree with me 100% of the time.

Then consider investing if ONLY it has some relevance and could help with what you are doing or what you plan to do in the near future. If you do not think it will help, then you do not have to buy it, simple?
