This way of bonding will make it so much easier for them to relate to you and this will also make it a lot easier for them to trust you. When it comes to marketing online, you can enter any market place you want and you can be anybody you want. You need to create a character with a pen name because every business needs a face. When there is a character with a face, your business is more personal unlike those cold corporate websites.
If your target audience is made up of mainly women with babies and you happen to be a man with a super thick white beard, you really need to use a pen name. On the other hand if your audience is made up of mainly younger men under 30 and you are a woman with white hair, you also need a pen name.
Select Your Pen Name
When selecting pen names, use common names that people can remember. Google the pen name which you are about to use to ensure there is no bad press. It would be terrible if your pen name is a name of a wanted serial killer or somebody like that.
To make your pen name appear more like a real person, go buy a photo from some stock photo site. Modify the face a little to make it more unique. When choosing photos, make sure it is not too good looking like some glamorous fashion model, also not too ugly like some sort of frankenstein.
Protect Your Pen Name
When you sell your own products with PayPal or ClickBank, your account name or payee name which is your real name would be shown when someone makes a purchase. Use your company name instead of your real name. This will make it harder for your competitors to spy on your best markets.
If you use Ezine Articles, create separate accounts for each pen name. When you sell your business, you can sell your character, your pen name and almost everything that comes with it including the your Ezine Articles account. Who knows you might be able to sell it a higher price because you did this.
Do consider buying the domain name of your pen name if it is available then use it to redirect to the site associated with that name. It is also a good idea to have only 1 market associated with 1 character rather than having a character who is into way too many unrelated markets.

I am NOT telling you to misrepresent yourself or tell lies! Do not create a pen name of some doctor or professor when you do not have the real credentials. Many book authors have pen names, if they can do that, so can you and I.
