“Google Analytics Tutorial…..”

By now, you probably realized that Google Analytics is one of the best analytics tools ever and it has an unbeatable price which is $0. To get an account, all you need to do is to open a Google account or you can sign up with your existing Gmail account.

Once you login, you want to add a website profile.

Google Analytics: Tracking Code

Grab the new tracking code so that you can put it in the footer of all your pages which you want to track.

Google Analytics: Profile

When editing your profile, you want to check on apply cost data.

Google Analytics: Goals

You can set up multiple goals per website.

Turn on your goal and select head match.

Google Analytics: Goal Funnel

A typical goal funnel would look like this…..

Squeeze Page:
Get people to give you their email.

Confirmation Page:
Remind people to confirm they want to receive your emails.

Sales Page:
Make a good offer in a persuasive manner to get people to buy.

Order Link:
Always track how many people actually click on your order link.

Thank You Page:
Your buyers land here after successfully making a purchase.

If you are an affiliate, you can set your affiliate link as the final goal of your funnel, then you track your sales separately.

Here is an advanced way to segment Google Analytics goal funnel. This is slightly more complex so just skip it if you are unsure.

The reason why you want to track your goal funnel is because you want to know exactly which stage of your funnel is slowly your sales down. Then you will know exactly where to fix when problems occur.

Simply by improving part by part, before you know it, your conversion rates will start to go up and you will start making more money even if you have the same amount of traffic.

Google Analytics: Link Tagging

You can tag all your links to track your traffic source so that you know which are your best and worse traffic sources.

Source:
google, yahoo, msn, print publication

Medium:
ppc-search, ppc-content, banners, ezines

Campaign:
trial-offer, limited-offer, special-offer

Term:
keywords, search terms

Content:
ad copy, ad creatives

Example:

http://www.url.com/page?utm_source=google&utm_medium=ppc-search&utm_campaign=test&utm_term=keyword&utm_content=ad001

That is what a link would look like when you tag it, do not have to use all the fields, just use whichever is relevant to your business.

Adding this tags to all your links manually may take you some time, fortunately, you can do auto tagging when you use AdWords.

Personally, I prefer manually tagging over auto tagging and I like using this Google Analytics Destination URL Builder to create links with tags.

Enjoy…..
